24.4. GENERAL TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
Here we list common terms which can be useful during reading a guide.
Marketing airline - an airline that offers air transportation on an aircraft operated by another airline, through code-sharing or blocked-space; it purchases a fixed number of seats from the administrating (operating/prime) carrier. The marketing airline decides on its own which booking classes the seats are sold in (the block of seats are optimised just like another aircraft cabin).
Validating airline - is the airline that validates or issues tickets, and the one that receives the money when the flights are booked. In the event of cancellations this is the airline with which the passenger has credit.
Operation airline - the airline that administers the flight (the one holding the operational permissions, airport slots and planning/controlling the flight and responsible for the ground handling services).
